UK Metals Expo to launch in September

A new event that will bring together the complete supply chain of the metals industry is set to take place at the Birmingham NEC.

The UK Metals Expo has been endorsed by the UK Metals Council and its membership, which covers a wide range of industry bodies, and these will also be collaborating for the event, which will be free to attend and comprise a two-day conference and exhibition.

The event will cover a number of themes concerning the challenges facing the industry in the coming years, such as trading in the post-Brexit era, ensuring competitiveness, effectively recycling metals for the circular economy and addressing the shortage of skills.

A press release from the event’s organisers said the industry would for the first time be:

“Represented and brought together fully under one roof from primary metal manufacture, supply chain management, processing metals, fabrication, surface coatings and recycling with industry experts, leading vendors and manufacturers such as Unilever, Royal Mint, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, Brompton Cycle, the Ministry of Defence, Ford Motor company, Landsec and Rolls-Royce.”

The organisers claim that anyone working in the metals industry will likely want to attend on September 14 and 15, as will any companies that sell services and products to it.
